Lumberton - Week 3

Hey Everyone! Last week in Lumberton  was crazy!!!

Our district is only Lumberton.  It is a small ward that has recently changed from a branch to a ward.  There is one Elder companionship and 1 Elder tripanionship, a sister companionship, and an elderly couple. Elder Brasier, Elder Fenton, and I are the Burmese Elders. Elder Peterson and Elder Perse are the Creole/English Elders. Creole is similar to French.

We help the Karenni youth and whoever else needs help with their  homework most nights.  I have been teaching a lot of them how to do math and write essays and all that fun stuff.  Every Sunday we have Family Home evening with the Burmese people.  I learned how to solve a Rubix cube! :)

We eat some crazy things! For whatever reason they eat limes dipped in this red hot chili stuff and you eat the whole thing skin and everything. It is super spicy and it makes you cry but it is kinda fun also. We also ate this weird fish thing. It looked like someone gutted the fish then deep fried it and that is what you eat... scales, skin, meat, and you just try not to swallow the bones!!! They eat a lot of noodles and lots of spicy things. Some of the stuff has this crazy weird texture that makes your mouth feel really icky, but we have to eat it.

On Wednesday,  I went on exchanges with Elder Peterson in his area to teach some Haitian people (in Haitian, which is actually called Creole) but all our appointments fell through so we started knocking on doors and found an awesome family that they are going to start teaching.

On Thursday,  I went back to my area with Elder Brasier and Elder Fenton and had a pretty normal day.  Elder Brasier had a leadership meeting up in Raleigh Friday,  so Elder Fenton went with Elder Perse and Elder Peterson and I went with Elder Brasier on a rode trip to Hope Mills. Elder Brasier left and spent the night with the Zone Leaders and left me with Elder Guymon and Elder Stephens! So I got to be with my Dad (trainer, Elder Guymon) for a day,  which was just crazy fun!!!

Friday night Elder Brasier came back and we headed home. It was  a pretty normal weekend. So last week was a lot of fun!

Love y'all!
Elder Harper
